In-home and Cellular Medical Alert Options from LifeStation

Having three types of medical alert options (traditional in-home (landline), cellular in-home (no landline), and mobile (gps))  has become the standard these days for modern medical alert companies. LifeStation delivers on that and more (considering the optional accessories available). We're very pleased to see that LifeStation medical alert has improved their customer service experience as well.

Setup for the cellular medical alert system from LifeStation was a breeze. Incredibly easy is an understatement… There are automated voice prompts that walk you through setup and testing with the call center and the printed directions were clear and simple.  Anyone could set the cellular unit up. The cellular unit works anywhere covered by AT&T.  This unit also has a great battery life, up to 5 days which is unusual in the market, normally we see mobile units that need to be charged daily.

When we tested the cellular medical alert system, the call center responded promptly after depressing the emergency button. We waited no longer than 15-20 seconds before a responder answered our call for help.

Like many of their competitors, the mobile (GPS) medical alert pendant is *bigger than the in-home pendants. We've spoken to many users of the cellular devices, and folks do tell us that they get used to it. Since is a bit bigger, some will wear it on a belt, or put it on a purse or pocket. At some point these things have to get smaller so they can be worn comfortably around the neck.

On the cellular unit we tested, the speaker in the pendant made the call-center attendant's voice sound very tinny and/or raspy.  I imagine if the user had hearing loss, it could be difficult to communicate effectively with call-center personnel.

*Note: This isn't a knock on the LifeStation unit in particular, but on the majority of the cellular alert systems on the market today.  

LifeStation Cancellation and Refund Policy

LifeStation offers a 30-day money back guarantee, regardless of the monthly payment plan. LifeStation has no cancellation fees. An account is considered cancelled and closed once the system is returned to LifeStation. Please note an account cannot be canceled until the system is in LifeStation's possession. If cancelling within 90 days, an annual-paying customer is entitled to a prorated refund.

  2. I am having trouble with my pendent as it is super sensitive. I had the EMS people out here 3 time in 5 days as my hearing is not the best and did not hear the speaker or the phone ring when called. I have been with company for 4 or 5 year and have not had this problem at all. I would like to stay with the company but I cannot have EMS out all the time. Are others experiencing this with the new pendan

  3. My mom used Lifestation for 4 months and returned it. She paid quarterly. They wouldn’t give us any info on her refund prior to us mailing it back nor is anything disclosed in writing. They kept charging her til they received it. Now saying they don’t give refunds on the accounts who pay quarterly. Plus they started charging her the day we ordered it, not the day she received it and actually started the service. Deceptive communication.

  4. I am looking for a system for my 92 year old Mother. She is now living alone, very independent and still drives. I am looking for a system that will detect if she falls, can wear while taking a bath. She wears a hearing device. Something that would be very easy for her to use

It’s probably time to update the individual company reviews that are hyperlinked in your article “List of the Best Medical Alert Systems 2018.” Not meaning to be undermine the credibility of The Senior List, but it’s a bit misleading to title an article “best of 2018” and support that article with reviews dated from 2014 & 2015. Technology and pricing have definitely changed since then and it leaves the reader confused as to what information in the 2018 article is up-to-date and what is decidedly not.

    1. Hi Al, we have a great service that fits your mother’s needs! I would suggest our mobile GPS device, which can be used anywhere in the United States. It is worn as a necklace and has the option for Fall Detection if requested. The device is waterproof and can be worn in the bath.   5. Just received the supreme alert necklace w/fall detection. My children reviewed info on the system and found some discrepencies. 1st it says WATERPROOF, in fact, it is WATER RESISTANT, and was told on the phone that I could try it, and if not what i expected and not satisfied, I could call customer service to cancel and they would send me a return label to return the device. Well, just got off the phone with cust. srv. and was told that I had to pay for the return. And, that all other cos. have the same policy. not true, cause we reviewed many alert cos. and they all have free return policies. they just send you a return label. I am in no financial position to have to pay to return this device. also, will have to get someone to the post office to return it. Could you please send me a postage pd return label so i can return my device ASAP. I understand my service will be cancelled upon receipt of this returned device. how long does this take. Cos. don’t have any problem taking you credit card and charging it immediately, but to get a refund, it takes a long time. this is not right.

  6. When wearing the device/pendant around her neck, how close does she have to be to her cell phone for the alert system to work? My mother is still driving and is hardly ever at home, but she does not like to take her cell phone with here everywhere. She wants to wear a bracelet or necklace instead. The truth is that she remembers to put on her jewelry every morning, but she forgets to pick up her cell phone when walking out the door :-).

      If she is looking at the cellular/mobile system, it has it’s own cellular signal built into it. In that case she could take whereever there is a cell signal.

      If she is thinking about the cellular in-home base station, she would have the same constraints as a typical medical alert system pendant. That range is usually between 600-1,000 feet radius from the base station.
