MobileHelp Smart: Stylish smartwatch and medical alert in one

Medical alert systems have progressed tremendously in recent years. The old traditional land-line systems are giving way to cellular medical alert systems ensuring that seniors will be safe both in and outside the home.

It all means a safer life for seniors, and peace of mind for loved ones.

However, there is still a major drawback of medical alert systems. Many users, particularly men, don't want to carry around an additional device.

Whether it be a neck pendant, wrist button or cellular unit, getting a loved one to actually carry it around can be a battle.

Enter MobileHelp Smart

MobileHelp, who already provides top-notch cellular medical alert systems for seniors, is expanding their offerings with their latest innovation, the MobileHelp Smart.

This alert is the first of its kind, combining a medical alert system with a smartwatch.

Getting Help Is As Easy As Pressing A Button

MobileHelp and Samsung designed their innovative medical alert device to be as easy to use as possible.

“A lot of our customers are seniors and things need to be really simple” Rob Flippo, CEO of MobileHelp explained during the unveiling at CES 2018, going on to show attendees that all users need to do is press one easy-to-find button on the watch face in order to get help.

When the button is pressed, the call center automatically connects to the watch and the wearer can interact with the operator directly through it. Everything is automated for the smoothest experience possible. “

The device picks it up in auto-answer mode so that you don’t have to accept the call” Flippo explained, adding that “it hangs up the call, so the user doesn’t have to do anything else to interact with the device.”

We’re particularly impressed with the level of ease MobileHelp and Samsung have baked into their new design.

Users who need help only have to press the button once, and the device does the rest: Connecting to the help center, answering the call, and hanging the call up afterwards.

Our Test: Wearing The MobileHelp Smart

MobileHelp Smart

The Senior List co-founder Chris Clark wore the MobileHelp Smart for two weeks.  Here's what he had to say:

First Impressions:

The first thing I have to say is this watch (the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier) is the same smartwatch many of my corporate co-workers wear on a regular basis. No one would know it was a medical alert system, unless I told them.  My current everyday watch is the Apple Watch (Series 2), so the smartwatch genre fits right in with me and my active lifestyle. Frankly, I don't want to give it back!

Medical Alert Functionality:

To access the medical alert application, I just clicked one of the buttons on the side of the watch. After doing so, “HELP” is prominently displayed in the face so first responders can be dispatched if necessary. Very easy… Very intuitive.

Look and Feel:

The MobileHelp Smart is a handsome watch. The Samsung Gear S3 form factor wears comfortably on my wrist, and the size of the face is perfect for viewing the time, my daily steps, or the MobileHelp alert button (if I were to need it). The MobileHelp Smart is comfortable on my wrist – So much so that I even played a round of golf wearing it!  This is the perfect solution for people who want a life saving device, but don't want the “look” of a medical alert system.

No Smartphone Required

Users don’t need a smartphone or any additional device to use MobileHelp Smart. Everything is contained within the smartwatch, which makes use of the Samsung Gear S3’s cell and GPS capabilities to ensure operators can locate and communicate with the user as soon as the button is pressed.

No More Medical Alert Pendants

Many people don’t appreciate the look of medical alert pendants. Most mobile alert systems have a small rectangular unit that needs to be worn as a pendant or carried in a purse or pocket.

We love that with MobileHelp Smart all you need to do is strap on a stylish smartwatch and that’s it. You can get help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without being tethered to a smartphone or additional device.

Health Tracking Included

MobileHelp Smart doesn’t stop at making it easy to get help anytime, anywhere. The MobileHelp Smart also makes use of Samsung’s health tracking technology to monitor sleep, heart rate, steps and other activity.

Users can keep an eye on their health as well as enjoying the reassurance of help being close at hand (and looking great to boot).

The Mobile Alert Of The Future

MobileHelp Smart could revolutionize the medical alert industry. Thanks to its smart design and best in class technology, seniors can get help whenever they need it with one single button press and no need for a medial alert pendant, bulky mobile alert or smartphone.

The future is bright; MobileHelp and Samsung have spoken about the possibility of creating a version that monitors a user’s health and preemptively calls for help before they even move to press the button.

We’re excited to see where they take this technology, but the current version is very impressive in its own right and will provide easy, stylish peace of mind for seniors everywhere.

  1. Due to fairly high expense, would my wife also be able to also use the alert system if I don’t use it all the time & not have to pay for two complete systems? Please list which systems that would allow it? Thank you for a great web site.

    1. Hi Shaun, Yes, I don’t see any reason why not! Just make sure that all the emergency contacts you list when you purchase would be the same for her as well. 🙂
