Best Assisted Living in Nashville

Nashville, TN, has a lot to offer the right retiree. Being both a major music town, as well as the seat of several colleges, Nashville strives to make itself both friendly and interesting to a wide range of people.

This town is highly eclectic, not only in its architecture but in the ambiance from neighborhood to neighborhood. For instance, Germantown (Nashville’s oldest neighborhood) is strewn with lovely examples of Victorian architecture accented by equally elegant shops and restaurants.

If you’re looking for a more boisterous night out, then explore Downtown or West End/Elliston Place. The 12South neighborhood is rife with art galleries, boutiques, bars, and coffee shops. You and anyone visiting you will always have something to do.

Besides being a seat of entertainment, Nashville is also the home of several colleges, including Vanderbilt University and Fisk University. The access to education as well as the performing arts could make this an even more appealing place to call home.

What people like about Nashville:

  1. Among US states, Tennessee has the second lowest cost of living.
  2. Though summers are hot, winters tend to be mild.
  3. Music aficionados can listen to live performances from their favorite genre: country, opera, rock, blues, jazz, the Schermerhorn Symphony – whatever you like.
  4. Among the numerous theaters is the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. (As for the NSF, don’t be misled by the term “Festival”; it’s open year-round.)
  5. The Nashville Ballet Company.
  6. Housing prices lower than the national average.
  7. Fine shopping, regardless of what you’re looking for.
  8. The Farmers Market, open 362 days a year.
  9. The 19 colleges and universities in Nashville, not to mention several nearby. Nashville is home to not only Vanderbilt and Fisk Universities, but also the Nashville Film Institute.
  10. Ample hospitals, clinics, for first-class medical care.
  11. Many parks and hiking and biking trails.
  12. An exciting array of restaurants and nightlife.
  13. The Nashville Zoo.
  14. A range of tours, historical and otherwise. How about the “Nashville” TV show tour?
  15. Water events, including a trip on the General Jackson Showboat or River Queen Voyages.
  16. The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson’s plantation. Research African-American history and enjoy the café and museum.

Other considerations for Nashville:

  1. Thanks to tourists who help fund the economy, it can get rather crowded.
  2. Their crime statistics are higher than the national average, so pick your neighborhood carefully.
