With plans starting at $10 per month, UNREAL Mobile offers some of the most affordable cellular service we’ve seen. While these low prices do come with minimal high-speed data allowances, UNREAL is still a great option for unlimited talk and text.

UNREAL Mobile does not currently offer a plan or discount for seniors; however, we think their 2 GB plan will be ideal for most older adults. At $10 to $15 per month (depending on whether you pay monthly or annually), this plan gives you unlimited talk, text, and data. Yes, your data speeds will be slowed after 2 GB; however, even slowed data speeds can accomplish basic tasks like browsing the web and sending emails.
Pro Tip: If you’re looking for an unlimited plan that doesn’t throttle your data so quickly, then we recommend reading our Consumer Cellular review.
UNREAL provides their plans both in stores and online via “kits” that come with a SIM card and installation instructions. A SIM card is a small chip installed in the side of your cell phone that allows it to perform functions like making calls. Simply purchase an UNREAL kit at a retail location or from their website.
To activate your service, go to the UNREAL website and enter the number that comes with your card. If the instructions are too confusing or complex, maybe ask a loved one or the location of purchase for assistance.
UNREAL offers three tiers of pricing: month to month, three months, and 12 months. Single-month purchases increase when renewed, while packages have a fixed monthly rate. If you choose to renew the above single-month $10 plan, the cost rises to $15 per month. The base rate for three months is $39; for 12 months, it’s $120.
UNREAL offers 5G GSM coverage, primarily via AT&T, throughout the U.S. and some of Mexico. Their alternative GSM coverage is available in the U.S., but some states, like Idaho, Oregon, and Nebraska, may have less coverage in rural areas.
Compared to T-Mobile senior plans, UNREAL’s service is cheaper overall; however, if you want to have greater access to high-speed data, then T-Mobile is the clear winner.
UNREAL Mobile plan | T-Mobile Essentials 55+ | |
---|---|---|
Starting price | $10 | $27.50 per month |
Price increase | $5 after the first month | Never |
5G access | Yes | Yes |
Long-term contract | None | None |
Age requirement | None | Must be 55+ |
If you use your cell phone only occasionally, or only for texts and calls, UNREAL’s yearlong plans may be for you; however, those who wish to use their phone to stream music and video frequently will quickly find their data throttled.

UNREAL does not offer a senior plan.
Since dropping their use of a VoIP network to support their coverage, UNREAL’s reviews have increased dramatically. Their customer service is widely regarded as available and helpful.
Using your UNREAL phone requires all functions to be performed via their proprietary app, which works over Wi-Fi only. Choosing one of UNREAL’s lower-data plans and not having access to a Wi-Fi network may cause you to exceed your data limit more quickly.
