Amazon Senior Discount: What You Can Expect
- As of 2023, Amazon doesn’t have a specific discount for seniors. However, the company does offer a discount on Prime membership that many seniors will qualify for.
- To qualify for the discounted Prime membership, Prime Access, a person has to be on one of several government assistance programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP, or SSI.
- The Prime Access rate is $6.99 per month, as opposed to the normal Prime membership rate of $14.99 per month.

Prime Access Membership
Amazon’s Prime Access membership costs $6.99 per month, a discount of over 50% off a normal Prime membership. While the cost of Prime Access is lower, its benefits are the same. These include:
- Free 0 to 2-day shipping on thousands of items
- Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Games
- Like other subscription services, Prime includes free access to Amazon’s lineup of shows, movies, songs, and books.
- Unlimited cloud photo storage on Amazon Photos
In our experience, expedited Prime shipping is the program’s most useful benefit. In many cases, you can order household goods and have them delivered to your door on the same day.
Prime Access Eligibility
To be eligible for a Prime Access discounted membership, a person must be receiving qualifying government assistance, and they must provide documentation or identification to prove this to Amazon.

Amazon Military Discount
In years past, Amazon has given veterans and active-duty members of the military a 50% discount on Prime memberships –– usually on Veteran’s Day. However, the company has since discontinued this discount.
