Does Goodwill Have a Senior Discount?

Goodwill does not have a company-wide discount for seniors; however, most stores do offer some type of discount for seniors. In our research, we found that stores usually offer a 10% to 30% discount for seniors, and this discount is usually available on a weekly or monthly basis.

For example, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin & Metropolitan Chicago gives shoppers 60 and older a 15% discount every Wednesday.

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake gives shoppers 55 and older a 30% discount every Wednesday.

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana gives shoppers 60 and older a 20% discount on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month.

As you can see, the discount will vary by the following:

• Discount amount: In our research, we found the discount ranged from 10% to 30% off regularly priced merchandise.
• Eligibility: Some stores offered the discount to people 55 and older, while others required the shopper to be at least 60.
• Dates: While no store offered the discount every day, some offered it weekly, while others offered it on specific days of the month.

Bottom Line

In our experience, every Goodwill store we contacted offered some type of discount for older adults; however, the discounts vary by region. To find out which specific discounts are offered by your local store, we recommend calling them or asking in person.
