Atherton Baptist Homes (Alhambra, California)
Based in Southern California, Atherton Baptist Homes was founded in 1914 as a retirement home for Baptist ministers and missionaries. Atherton is one of the most diverse life-plan communities in America, with residents representing over 15 religious denominations. Atherton is a licensed not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that offers a variety of senior care options that reflect Christian heritage and values.
Atherton’s assisted living unit offers 24/7 care from nurses and certified nursing assistants, personal care assistance, daily wellness checks, housekeeping and linen service, case management, and three meals a day. The facility also provides companion care in a home-like setting for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Other amenities include Bible study, an arts and craft room, a fitness room, an indoor pool, and a community vegetable garden.
Brookridge (Winston-Salem, North Carolina)
Owned and operated by Baptist Retirement Homes, Brookridge offers assisted living services such as personal care, medication monitoring, and 24/7 supervision from licensed nurses. Other amenities include access to a pool and fitness area, a gated community, scenic walking trails, and social and recreational activities such as billiards and gardening.
Brookridge is located near many historic landmarks and museums, such as the Old Salem Museums and Gardens, and nearby performing arts centers such as the Hanesbrands Theatre and RiverRun International Film Festival. Residents who want to practice their faith can participate in Bible study and other community programs.
LifeStream at Thunderbird (Glendale, Arizona)
Founded in 1975 as the Arizona Baptist Retirement Centers, LifeStream is committed to serving seniors through a variety of care levels. One of its assisted living centers, the Thunderbird, offers a variety of services and amenities, such as medication monitoring, personal care, restaurant-style dining, daily housekeeping, weekly laundry, and on-site chaplains to help with spiritual guidance and support.
A LifeStream resident may enjoy community amenities such as a swimming pool and spa, as well as regular Bible study and other worship services. A private room at the Thunderbird starts at around $4,675 per month with Arizona Long Term Care System health insurance.
