Widely known for their TV and internet service, Cox has recently begun offering Cox Mobile, which provides nationwide cellular service. That said, in order to access this deal, Cox requires users to have an existing internet or TV subscription.
Still, for existing Cox customers, Cox Mobile is one of the best deals around, with service starting from $15 per month.
FYI: Not a Cox subscriber? Then check out our rundown of the top-rated cellular providers for seniors.
Cox Mobile currently offers two plans: Pay As You Gig and Gig Unlimited.
Pay As You Gig comes with unlimited talk and text as well as 1 GB of data. If you exceed this data allowance, you’ll be charged $15 for each additional GB. Keep in mind, 1 GB of data is roughly the amount required to stream one hour and 20 minutes of standard-definition video.
Gig Unlimited comes with unlimited talk, text, and data. Because of this, it’s ideal for heavier users of music and video streaming. We must note, however, that while this plan puts no caps on data usage, your data will be deprioritized after 20 GB of data usage in a given month. This means that you’ll likely experience slower speeds after reaching this threshold.
Plan | Starting Monthly Price | Talk and Text Allowance | Monthly Data Allowance |
---|---|---|---|
Pay As You Gig | $15 per line | Unlimited | 1 GB ($15 for each additional GB used) |
Gig Unlimited | $45 per line | Unlimited | Unlimited (data speeds throttled after 20 GB) |
Cox does not offer specific discounts or plans for seniors; however, we think their Pay As You Gig plan is a great option for older adults. For $15 per month, it’s hard to find a more affordable deal on unlimited talk and text. While 1 GB is a relatively small data allowance, seniors who primarily use Wi-Fi for internet access on their phone should have no issues.

Cox Mobile prices start at $15 per month and are paid month to month as a charge added to your Cox Internet plan. Both of their plans have a base price subject to tax, activation, and other service fees.
Cox Internet prices start at $50 per month. So, for internet and cellular service, you can expect to pay roughly $65 per month, a pretty affordable deal overall.
Cox Mobile is a carrier on Verizon’s 5G and 4G LTE networks, giving customers access to some of the nation’s best cellular service across the United States. Remember that you have to sign up for Cox Internet first, so be sure to check its provider availability in your area.
While Cox Mobile has a cheaper starting price of $15 per month, these prices quickly escalate with data usage. Additionally, while Cox will deprioritize your data speeds after 20 GB of data usage, T-Mobile provides 50 GB of high-speed data before deprioritization.
For Cox subscribers, Cox Mobile will be the cheaper option, provided you don’t use much data. For people 55 and older, T-Mobile is definitely the better option.

That said, for those who primarily use their phones for talk and text, Cox Mobile is one of the best deals out there, provided you already have Cox Internet.
Cox Mobile offers 4G LTE and 5G service and is available to current Cox Internet customers.
