Prof. Tina Sadarangani, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, is a board-certified adult and geriatric nurse practitioner, NIH-funded clinician-scientist, and nationally recognized expert in aging, caregiving, and long-term care. She serves as an assistant professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, where she leads a research program focused on improving care for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other chronic conditions — and supporting the families who care for them.
Dr. Sadarangani’s work closely aligns with the mission of TheSeniorList.com: helping older adults and their families make informed, confident decisions about safety, healthcare, and aging services. Her expertise spans dementia care, medication management, older adult nutrition, adult day programs, culturally responsive caregiving, and age-tech tools designed to support aging safely at home.
Dr. Sadarangani’s work sits at the intersection of healthcare quality, safety, technology, and family caregiving. She specializes in helping families navigate what can often feel like a complex and fragmented healthcare system. With funding from the National Institutes of Health, she created CareMobi™, an award-winning mobile app developed out of her NYU lab that helps families and care teams communicate more effectively about day-to-day needs, appointments, medications, and changes in condition. Her research also positions adult day centers as critical (but often overlooked) community-based supports that can reduce hospitalizations, prevent isolation, and improve quality of life for older adults.

A leading voice on practical caregiving strategies, Dr. Sadarangani founded The Enlightened Caregiver, a social media movement dedicated to helping families get optimal — not just usual — care for the people they love. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Associated Press, and U.S. News & World Report. She’s also been recognized as a Woman of Distinction/Rising Star in Long-Term Care and a Notable Leader in Healthcare by Crain’s New York Business.
Through her clinical experience, research, and public education efforts, Dr. Sadarangani is committed to helping older adults age safely, with dignity, connection, and the highest quality care possible — and empowering families with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.
