Dr. Maryam Tabrizi, DMD, MPH, is the founder of the geriatric dental clinic at the University of Nevada School of Dental Medicine in Las Vegas. As an associate professor at UNLV, she teaches the next generation of dentists to become oral health physicians, with a focus on individuals’ overall health outcomes as they age. She also collaborates with the UNLV medical school in research, developing educational modules on oral health for non-dental health providers and primary care physicians. Maryam is also an author and speaker on geriatric oral health, nationally and internationally.
Dr. Tabrizi received her DMD in 1991 from Temple University School of Dentistry. She owned her own dental practice in Pennsylvania for 20 years before leaving full-time practice and joining her colleagues in dental education. She started teaching at Temple University, where she received her master’s degree in public health. She then moved to Texas after accepting a full-time position teaching geriatric and special needs dentistry at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston.
Dr. Tabrizi is a nationally and internationally recognized geriatric dentist. She serves as a member and a leader in multiple local, national and international organizations on gerontology and geriatrics oral health.
Dr. Tabrizi has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific journals and has been published in local, national, and international dental journals. Specifically, she’s the author of many chapters on oral health and geriatric health management, published by Springer, Elsevier, and other esteemed publishers. She’s also a highly sought-after clinician, educator, researcher, and advocate for positive aging. Additionally, Dr. Tabrizi is considered a pioneer in integrating oral health and overall health: she’s developed an oro-systemic health care delivery system over the past 10 years of her career.

Dr. Tabrizi’s articles have been prominently featured on Google Scholar. She’s also contributed to the HRSA program in developing Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) “Oral Health and Dementia”.
She’s contributed multiple chapters on oral health to Geriatric health management textbooks. In addition, she’s been a keynote speaker at the international conference on Dentistry and Dental Materials. Dr. Tabrizi is a popular fixture among invited speakers on oral health and dementia and older adults living with multiple health complexities.
