The Best LGBTQ+ Dating Sites for Seniors in 2026
Online dating isn’t just for people under 50. More and more older adults are turning to the internet to find their next relationship. Nearly a quarter of U.S. adults in their 50s have tried online dating, as have 14 percent of 60- to 69-year-olds and 12 percent of those 70 and older, according to a Pew Research Center survey.1 It’s never too late to find love, and the internet is a good place to start!
Understandably, many older adults have reservations about dipping their toes into the online dating pool. Typical concerns include navigating technology, staying safe from scammers and predators, shifting relationship expectations, and, for LGBTQ+ seniors, finding other queer people your age. We hope this article will empower single LGBTQ+ seniors by providing a comprehensive guide to the best online dating sites that cater to your needs and preferences.

The Best LGBTQ+ Dating Sites for Seniors in 2026
- Hinge : Best App
- Match : Most Popular
- SilverSingles : Best Overall
- Zoosk : Best In-Person Events
- EliteSingles : Best for Serious Relationships
Our Methodology: How We Chose Our Favorites
Here’s how we chose the best dating sites for LGBTQ+ seniors.
- Membership makeup: Most sites don’t reveal their member demographic information, but we like that SilverSingles claims that 80 percent of their members are 50 or older. We also looked for sites with large LGBTQ+ membership.
- Cost: All of the dating sites and apps on this list have free versions, but most require a paid subscription to see unblurred photos or message other users. The subscription costs range from about $10 to $60 a month; longer membership terms generally mean lower monthly rates.
- Privacy features: We prioritize websites that do not sell customers’ personal data to third parties, block spam users through features such as selfie video verifications, and take other measures to prevent fraud and spamming.
- Matching features: Most dating websites match users via algorithms based on member profiles and preferences. Some use personality tests, while others, like Hinge, use artificial intelligence based on a person’s previous interactions.
- Additional features: We prefer sites that offer video chatting, which is a great way to check out someone’s vibe without meeting them in person.
Hinge - Best App
What We Like Most:
- Easy-to-use iPhone and Android apps
- Ability to see photos and likes, and message people for free
- Quick setup process
- Verification through selfie videos
Overview
Your grandkids may be on Hinge, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great app for older adults too. Hinge is the only dating service on this list that can’t be used on the internet; to use Hinge, you’ll need to download the mobile app. But unlike SilverSingles, its mobile app is incredibly easy to use, and we created profiles in minutes.
Plus, it didn’t cost a dime to see and like multiple photos of people or start chatting, which isn’t the case for any other dating site on this list. If you would prefer to use a dating site online and not via an app on your phone, check out the other options we’ve listed.
How It Works
Hinge has the easiest setup process of any service on this list. It took us only a few minutes on our phones to download the Hinge app, log in through Instagram or Facebook, import photos and answer prompts. Hinge offers both written prompts and photo prompts to help members flesh out their profiles, which makes it easy. Examples of written prompts include, “I’m weirdly attracted to…”, “My simple pleasures are…” and “I go crazy for…”
It was fun matching our pictures with some of the photo prompts, such as “My weekends look like…”, “Woke up like this…” and “How my friends see me.”

We also filled in basic information such as age, sexuality, occupation, religion and the type of relationship we were looking for. Then Hinge showed us matches based on our profiles. If we liked someone and they liked us back, or vice versa, the match would show up in our inbox and we could message them directly and even send each other voice memos. We especially appreciated that feature, as well as the ability to answer voice questions and post videos on our profiles. If a picture’s worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million.
Standout Features
Hinge lets you “like” specific photos or aspects of a person’s profile, which they show you in a feed on the app. You might, for example, see a statement on someone’s profile such as “Italian food is the best.” With Hinge, you can like or comment on that particular part of a person’s profile and potentially start a conversation, making the experience a little more personal and substantive than swiping left or right on endless photos.

We also appreciate a feature called Standouts. In Standouts, Hinge showed us five people most likely to be our types, based on how they responded to prompts. Out of those five, we could send one a virtual rose, which shows the person you’re very interested. Hinge informs members that sending a rose is twice as likely to lead to a date as sending a like.
Plans and Costs
Hinge offers two main plans: Hinge+ and HingeX.
| Term length | Hinge+ total amount billed | HingeX total amount billed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 week | $24.99 | $39.99 |
| 1 month | $46.64 | $74.99 |
| 3 months | $99.99 | $144.99 |
| 6 months | $129.99 | $224.99 |
| How many likes you can send | Unlimited | Unlimited |
The plans differ in terms of the features you get. Both allow you to see everyone who likes you, however, which means you don’t have to wait until you like them back. You’re also able to see who is nearby and new with both features. Only HingeX, however, allows for what it calls “enhanced recommendations,” which means profiles the app thinks you’ll be most compatible with. It also means the app will recommend you to matches sooner and will put your likes at the front of the pack.
Hinge is the only dating service on this list to offer one-week memberships. We don’t think it’s necessary to pay for a subscription unless you’ve really exhausted your dating pool, however, because unblurred photos, likes and messages are free. Essentially, the subscriptions just make the process go faster, so we’d wait until you’re in a drought to pay up.
Drawbacks
Hinge isn’t the most popular dating app among members of the LGBTQ+ community. According to a Gay Therapy Center survey of mostly gay cisgender men ages 36 to 59, only 17 percent use Hinge, compared to the 65 percent who use Grindr.2 A Pew Research Center survey of LGBTQ+ online daters 50 and older suggests that only 13 percent of men and 15 percent of women had tried Hinge. They also found that Tinder was the most popular LGBTQ+ dating app overall.3

Apps like Grindr and Tinder, however, are more often used for hookups, or unserious flings, not long-term relationships. With an emphasis on what users think and feel about the world around them rather than solely focusing on user photos, Hinge may be better for people seeking meaningful relationships.
Our Verdict
If you’re comfortable using an app rather than a website to date online, you’ll love Hinge’s design and functionality. Creating a profile is easy, and the prompts keep the process of filling out a dating profile light and fun. Plus, it doesn’t cost a penny to chat with cute people online and plan some dates, which we can’t say for any other service on this list.
Pros
- Intuitive mobile app
- Free to send likes and messages
- Free to browse unblurred photos
- Ability to verify users via selfie videos
Cons
- Not the most popular LGBTQ+ dating app
- No website option
Match - Most Popular
What We Like Most:
- Most popular dating app among online daters in their 50s
- In-person events
- Free messaging
- Free unlimited likes
Overview
Match is the most popular dating website among the over-50 crowd. According to Pew Research Center survey data, 53 percent of 50- to 59-year-olds, 51 percent of 60- to 69-year-olds and 41 percent of those 70 and older have tried it, making it more popular than eharmony, Tinder and Hinge.4 Although the largest group of Match users are 30 to 49 years old, people 50 and older are the site’s fastest-growing demographic, making up more than 25 percent of Match users.5
How It Works
The signup process was fairly quick with Match. We entered our height, whether we wanted kids, our smoking and drinking habits, and what we wanted in a partner. For each preference, we could indicate whether something was a dealbreaker. If nonsmoking matches were a must, for example, Match wouldn’t show us even occasional smokers. We also added interests to our profiles, such as running and cooking, and responded to some prompts, which are similar to the prompts on Hinge.
FYI: Curious about assisted living? Read our 2026 Guide to Assisted Living.
Match’s website and app are both well designed and easy to use (unlike the SilverSingles app). We were matched with other users based upon our preferences and their distance from us, and we could message someone when we liked them — on a limited basis — for free.
Standout Features
A major draw for Match is the large database of members. Match has the highest brand awareness of any company on this list, recognized by nearly 7 in 10 survey respondents compared to about 4 in 10 for Zoosk and Hinge. Match also stands apart for their number of members over 50, a group that makes up more than one-quarter of Match users.
Did You Know: Hinge, Tinder, Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, OurTime and Latino dating site Chispa are also owned by Match Group.6
In 2023, Match launched a dating app specifically for gay men, called Archer. Archer reportedly users skew pretty young: A company representative has said that more than 60 percent of users are 35 or younger.7
Plans and Costs
With a Match premium plan, we could send as many messages as we wanted, see when our messages had been read and get discounts to Match events, among other features. Aside from the term length, each of the paid options is the same. (Note that subscription prices tend to fluctuate.)
| Term length | Monthly cost | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $31.99 | $95.97 |
| 6 months | $24.99 | $149.94 |
| 12 months | $19.99 | $239.88 |
One thing to note is that Match doesn’t offer a one-month subscription. The shortest term length is three months, which may be too long for commitment-phobes. If you want the shortest paid subscription, check out Hinge, the only dating app on this list to offer a one-week option.
Drawbacks
Match is one of the more expensive dating sites on this list, although not by much. Lesser known sites, such as Zoosk, tend to be cheaper because their membership numbers are smaller. We recommend signing up for a year to get Match’s price down to about $20 a month, which is on par with offers from Hinge and SilverSingles.
Our Verdict
Because of Match’s user numbers, a membership will expose you to a larger number of single seniors in your area than other dating sites and apps. Another plus is that users over 50 are their fastest-growing demographic, and we also love the in-person events. Some memberships come with discounts for the live events too. Although it’s a bit pricier than websites like Zoosk or EliteSingles, you get what you pay for.

Pros
- Over half of online daters in their 50s and 60s have used Match
- Membership discounts on in-person events
- Quick setup
Cons
- Shortest term length is three months
- Cheapest option is $19.99 per month for a one-year membership
SilverSingles - Best Overall
What We Like Most:
- 80 percent of membership base is 50 or older
- Personality test measures compatibility
- Secure data privacy policy
- Verification on every new member
Overview
SilverSingles is the only dating site on this list designed specifically for older adults. Technically, anyone 18 or older can join, but the company says that 8 out of 10 members are 50 or older. If you are looking to meet singles in your age bracket, SilverSingles is a great place to start.
How It Works
The SilverSingles sign-up process starts with a personality test, which took about 20 minutes to complete. The test asked about our favorite first-date activities and some more esoteric questions, such as which shapes we prefer. We also entered our email addresses and passwords and filled out information about preferences in a partner, such as our ideal height, education level, religion and more.
SilverSingles has a free version that lets you search and like other users; if they liked us back, they’d match with us and end up in our inbox. To actually message them or see unblurred photos, however, requires a paid subscription.
Standout Features
Finding someone you love is hard, and finding a fellow member of the senior LGBTQ+ community can be even harder. Although 1 in 5 Americans who are Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) identify as LGBTQ+, only 1.7 percent of the Silent Generation (those born in 1945 or earlier) and 2.7 percent of baby boomers (people born between 1946 and 1964) do, according to a Gallup poll published in 2025.8

That’s why we appreciate dating sites designed for people over 50, such as SilverSingles. Although it’s not a queer dating site specifically, you can easily tailor your searches to find same-sex partners.
Plans and Costs
Sign up for SilverSingles for three, six or 12 months. Each subscription includes the same features: unblurred photos and unlimited messaging.
| Term length | Monthly cost | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $44.95 | $134.85 |
| 6 months | $34.95 | $209.70 |
| 12 months | $24.95 | $299.40 |
SilverSingles costs are on par with other dating sites on our list. Match, for example, costs $19.99 per month if you sign up for a year. SilverSingles does not offer a one-month membership like Zoosk does, nor a one-week option like Hinge.
Drawbacks
SilverSingles is primarily used online, so the iOS and Android apps are not as functional as an app-only dating service like Hinge. When we tried to create a profile on the SilverSingles app with an iPhone, all our information was rejected and we ended up having to use the website anyway. If you’d rather use a website for online dating, however, app difficulties may be irrelevant. If you’re looking for a super-functional and intuitive app, check out Hinge.
Our Verdict
If you’re an LGBTQ+ senior looking for someone similar, SilverSingles is the place for you. Most members are 50 or older, and it won’t break the bank with subscriptions starting at just under $25 per month.
To learn more about the site, read our full SilverSingles review.
Pros
- 80 percent of members are 50 or older
- Encryption of sensitive data
- Free option
- Prices start at $24.95 per month with an annual subscription
Cons
- Buggy mobile app
- With a large membership base of older adults, scammers seem particularly drawn to SilverSingles.
Zoosk - Best In-Person Events
What We Like Most:
- In-person speed-dating events
- Matchmaking events available
- Virtual-dating events
- Low prices
Overview
Maybe you hadn’t heard of Zoosk until now, but numbers suggest it’s a very popular dating platform. The Zoosk app has been downloaded over 30 million times from the Apple App and Google Play stores, and that figure doesn’t include website signups and usage. Overall, Zoosk has more than 35 million members around the world, connecting users virtually and via in-person events.
How It Works
Zoosk had the quickest sign-up process we’ve ever experienced on a dating website. We created a username and password, uploaded photos and filled in our dating information — including whether we have kids, our education level, ethnicity, religion and smoking habits — in just a few minutes.
Before long, we were looking at SmartPicks (essentially the same as Hinge’s Standouts) and swiping through a carousel of profiles. There was no lengthy personality test, unlike with SilverSingles and eharmony, so the process was swift. If someone liked us and we liked them, we could message through our inbox directly.
FYI: Lesser known honorable mentions for our list include Her, a dating app created for lesbians (and by a lesbian) over 40. Her is also inclusive of nonbinary lesbians and people who are transgender. Subscriptions to Her range from about $15 to $90 per month. Taimi is another dating app created for people of all ages in the queer community.
Note that Zoosk is not designed specifically for either older adults or LGBTQ+ people. We could specify our preferred age range and sexual orientation, though, so it was as fully customizable as any other dating site.
Standout Features
Aside from Match, Zoosk is the only dating site on this list to offer in-person events in cities across the country, including Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle and Los Angeles. Through a partnership with CitySwoon, Zoosk offers in-person speed dating, which usually takes place at bars and restaurants. The events are either for gay or straight members, and most have specific age ranges as well.
We appreciate that events are tailored for specific groups, which can make attendees more comfortable and help them connect with potential matches more quickly. The meetups are also great for people who simply prefer interacting in person rather than behind a screen.
Plans and Costs
Zoosk’s plans are not complicated, because they all offer the same features. The only differences are the length of your membership term. The good news: Zoosk has the lowest prices on this list at just $10 a month if you sign up for a year up front. (Note: Prices can fluctuate.)
| Term length | Monthly cost | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $29.95 | $29.95 |
| 3 months | $19.98 | $59.95 |
| 6 months | $13.35 | $79.99 |
| 12 months | $10 | $119.99 |
There’s also a free version, but, unlike with Hinge, messaging isn’t free. It’s free to browse unblurred photos, but sending someone a message requires a paid subscription. Fortunately, Zoosk’s prices are reasonable, especially with the longer term lengths.
Drawbacks
In a brand-awareness survey, 7 out of 10 U.S. adults ages 18 to 64 said they had heard of Tinder, eharmony and Match, while only 4 in 10 were familiar with Zoosk. Less brand awareness means fewer users, which may explain Zoosk’s lower costs. Regardless, Zoosk is a little better known than Hinge: 38 percent of adults said they had heard of Hinge, compared with 42 percent who knew about Zoosk, according to research by Statista.9
Our Verdict
If in-person dating events appeal to you, Zoosk is a great option. For comparatively low monthly fees, Zoosk allows you to connect with others online from the comfort of your home and also meet groups of people at once in fun speed-dating events (if they’re held in your area). For just $60, you can check out Zoosk for three months, which may be enough time to meet someone great. If you think you may want to devote more time to dating online, your monthly costs will be even less. Read our full review of Zoosk here.
Pros
- Speed-dating events across the country
- Free unblurred photos
- Subscriptions start at $10 per month
- Quick and easy setup process
Cons
- Smaller membership base than some competitors
- Not specific to LGBTQ+ or older adults
- In-person events cost extra
EliteSingles - Best for Serious Relationships
What We Like Most:
- Highly educated members
- Geared toward people seeking long-term relationships
- Science-based compatibility quiz
- Fewer, better matches
Overview

Nearly half of online daters in the U.S. who are 50 or over now use dating sites and apps in order to meet a long-term partner or spouse.10 Not every app, however, is designed for long-term relationships. Popular LGBTQ+ dating apps, such as Grindr and Archer (the newer Match Group dating app for gay men), are used more often for hookups. Those apps’ users skew younger as well.

EliteSingles, on the other hand, is a dating site designed specifically for people seeking serious relationships. The company claims that 85 percent of their members hold “above average” education levels and that the majority of their members are between 30 and 55 years old.11
How It Works
When you sign up for EliteSingles, you’ll be prompted to take a personality test to help find your best matches. SilverSingles and eharmony have similar personality quizzes that inform their matching algorithms. The EliteSingles personality test is based on the Five-Factor Model, or Big Five, which is a personality model based on five basic dimensions:
- Agreeableness
- Conscientiousness
- Extraversion
- Neuroticism
- Openness to experience12
Based on those factors, the algorithm matched us with three to seven people per day. The process is extremely different from that of Hinge or Zoosk, which let you see as many profiles per day as your eyeballs can stand. EliteSingles will be a breath of fresh air if you prefer the expedience of seeing fewer, more curated matches.
Standout Features
EliteSingles’ lengthy, 10-section personality test produced matches based on both our preferences and on compatibility. After seemingly endless swiping on apps like Hinge, we wanted to spend less time on dating sites and more time on dates. By curating matches to just a few per day, EliteSingles made us consider each person more carefully, rather than dismissing them in seconds after seeing one or two photos. The EliteSingles approach seems more conducive to finding compatible people for serious relationships.
Plans and Costs
With the free version of EliteSingles, you can send messages on a limited basis, but all photos are blurred. To view unblurred photos, you need to upgrade to a paid subscription for three, six or 12 months, the same pricing tiers Match and SilverSingles use.
In some areas and at certain times, EliteSingles may offer a one-month subscription. EliteSingles’ prices are a little lower, however, starting at about $15 a month with the annual package. (Note that costs fluctuate.)
| Term length | Monthly cost | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $34.99 | $104.97 |
| 6 months | $19.99 | $119.94 |
| 12 months | $14.99 | $179.88 |
Drawbacks
Having only a few options to consider per day may be frustrating if you’re more interested in short-term dating or hookups. If that’s the case, Hinge or Zoosk may be better options.
Our Verdict
If you’re ready to settle down, EliteSingles is a great option to help you find someone. It’s also ideal for educated adults who want to date someone at a similar intellectual level and who are 30 to 55 years old, the age group that makes up the majority of EliteSingles members.
Pros
- Educated members
- Most members are 30 to 55 years old
- No endless swiping
- Algorithm based on the Big Five personality test for more substantive matches
Cons
- Not the best option for people seeking casual or short-term connections
- Not designed specifically for seniors or the LGBTQ+ community

Online dating isn’t the only pathway to love. Check out these other fun ways to meet people you may click with.
Bars
Gay and lesbian bars have been pillars of the LGBTQ+ community for decades. Nearly every city has at least a couple gay bars, filled with members of your community.

The USGSN, for example, lists six leagues of accessible sports such as bowling, pickleball and cornhole in my gay-friendly city of Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Membership can skew on the younger side, particularly for the more physical sports, but you may be able to find a fun new activity and group of people to share it with! Even if you’re not in the best physical condition, a round of darts or a game of cornhole can be a great way to meet someone new and get some sparks flying.
LGBTQ+ Centers

Bottom Line
Only 3 percent of baby boomers identify as LGBTQ+, according to a Gallup poll published in 2025. Just the year prior, however, that figure was only 2 percent.15 If you’re an LGBTQ+ senior, it’s not too late to find love or find love again. Online dating can be a helpful and fun way to find that special someone with whom to share your life.
