Cost: Starting at $15 for talk-only; $27.50 per line for unlimited talk, text, and data
We love Consumer Cellular for its customer service, which is 100 percent based in the United States. We also love their low prices for two-line plans. For AARP members, Consumer Cellular offers a plan with unlimited talk, text, and data for $55 for two lines. That amounts to $27.50 per line. (By the way, anyone can become an AARP member, regardless of age.)
If you don’t need unlimited data, Consumer Cellular has affordable plans with unlimited talk and text for $20 per month. And no matter which plan you choose, additional lines only cost $15 each. So for two lines with unlimited talk and text, you’ll only pay $35 total.
Additionally, if you’re an AARP member, you’ll get a five percent discount on your Consumer Cellular bill.

Cost: Starting at $27.50 per line for unlimited talk, text, and data
Normally, T-Mobile plans start at $90 per month for two lines; however, seniors can take advantage of special discounts. If you’re 55 or older, you can get the same unlimited two-line plans for nearly half the price.
The Essentials 55 plan from T-Mobile sports the largest 5G network in the nation as well as famously good customer service. For $27.50 per line ($55 total), you get two lines with unlimited talk, text, and data as well as a few bonus features. These include 3G mobile hot spot data, 2G data in Canada and Mexico, international texting, and a free caller ID system to alert you of scam calls.
For even more premium data and extra features like Netflix and Apple TV Plus subscriptions, as well as a AAA membership, you can opt for the Go5G 55 ($40 per line) or Go5G Plus 55 ($50 per line) plans. For those looking for those extra features, T-Mobile offers unbeatable 5G coverage for two-line plans. Just note that we found hidden taxes and fees for the Essentials plan as well as slower data speeds than advertised at the monthly data caps.

Cost: Starting at $5 per month for 100 minutes
Nowadays, many people find it annoying that most major networks require them to purchase data, texting, or other services that they don’t intend to use. For those who want total customization at an affordable price, Tello is a great option.
If you want a plan with 100 minutes and unlimited texts, you’ll pay only $5 per month ($10 for two lines). This is easily the most affordable wireless plan we’ve seen on the market. Unlimited talk and text will cost you $8 per line, and unlimited talk, text, and data will run you $29 per month. Additionally, Tello lets you bring your own device to their plans, so if you like your current phone, you won’t have to switch to one compatible with your new plan.
The primary downside of Tello would have to be that they don’t offer discounts for multiple lines.

Cost: Starting at $40 per line for unlimited talk, text, and data
Verizon is one of the nation’s fastest and most trusted networks, and the provider has a two-line plan for seniors that costs $40 per line and includes unlimited talk, text, and data. Unfortunately, there’s a catch.
In addition to being 55 or older, a subscriber to this special plan must be a resident of Florida. Still, if you want to stream on your phone, disregard data caps, or use your phone while traveling to Canada or Mexico, Verizon’s unlimited plan is a good place to start.

Cost: Starting at $8.33 per line for unlimited talk and text and 1 GB of data
Boost Mobile offers an insanely low starting price of $8.33 per month per line for unlimited talk and text, plus 1 GB of data from one of the more reliable networks out there. For unlimited data, customers pay $60 per month, but a second line only costs $20.
While Boost Mobile offers 5G access and unlimited hot spot use, they have hidden fees you need to be aware of. If you bring your own phone to the plan, you’ll have to pay an extra $25 fee upfront, something they don’t advertise very well. They also don’t have the most straightforward activation process, which is a problem since their ultralow $8.33 starting plan can only be purchased online.
If you’re willing to stick it out with the extra fees, though, Boost Mobile is a reliable choice for prepaid phone service with admirable customization options for those who only want to buy the data they need. Unlike many online-only services today, Boost also has in-person retailers that can help you figure out your options and get signed up.

To choose the phone plan that’s right for you, figure out how much data you need. Tello has the best options we reviewed for unlimited talk and text only, while the other plans offer pros and cons for different situations, such as if you live in Florida, if you want to take advantage of prepaid customization options, if you want to bring your own device, or if you want to buy truly unlimited data.
Whichever plan you choose, make sure to watch out for any hidden fees, as well as any data overages. Often, the cheapest plans come with their own costs. But if you opt for a plan with no long-term contracts like the ones on this list, you can easily switch to another service if it isn't working for you.
