The Best Dating Sites for Seniors in 2024
- SilverSingles : Best for Seniors Seeking Seniors
- Christian Cafe : Most Affordable
- Christian Mingle : Highest Percentage of Christians
1. SilverSingles - Best for Seniors Seeking Seniors
What We Like Most:
- 80 percent of users are ages 50 and older
- More than 381,000 new members each month
- Verifications on every new member
- Filter by religion
Overview
No one wants to be the oldest person on a dating website. But, certain websites and apps, like Hinge, Bumble, and even OkCupid, aren’t geared toward seniors. SilverSingles, however, is meant for seniors specifically. Although, technically, anyone 18 and older can join, 8 out of 10 members are ages 50 and older — meaning you’re more likely to find another senior like yourself. While the site isn’t specific to Mormons or Christians more broadly, we could check off Christian or Other to find other LDS members; “Mormon” isn’t an option. That’s a definite drawback of SilverSingles, but, unfortunately, that even occurs on Christian-focused sites like Christian Mingle.
If you’re unsure if SilverSingles is the right dating site for you, you can use it for free online senior dating. Even without paying, we could “like” people and swipe through matches to see our options. Pictures will be blurred and messages will not be allowed, but it’s a good way to dip your toe in the water before you dive in. For more information, read our review of SilverSingles.
Pros
- Majority of members are 50 and older
- Free version includes searches, likes, and profile views
- Verifications on all new members
- In-person events
Cons
- Not specific to Mormons or even Christians
- Mormon/LDS is not an option on the Ethnicity & Religion filter
2. Christian Cafe - Most Affordable
What We Like Most:
- Filters for faith, denomination, and church involvement
- 10-day free trial
- Christians only
- Memberships start at $18.33 a month
Overview
Among U.S. adults ages 65 and older who are involved in the LDS church, 36 percent make less than $30,000 a year and 28 percent make between $30,000 and $49,999. If you’re in the bottom half of the economy, you may want to save money on your online senior dating. Of these three websites, Christian Cafe has the most affordable prices, starting at $18.33 a month; SilverSingles and Christian Mingle charge about $24.99 a month to start with, saving you $6 a month. Aside from its low prices, not to mention its 10-day free trial, the website has some great filters even within Christianity, such as:
- Christian faith: Choose from a spectrum of “it defines who I am” to “I believe in God.”
- Denomination: Unfortunately, Mormon/LDS was not a listed denomination on Christian Cafe — the same is the case for the other websites on this list.
- Church involvement: Check off how often you attend church, whether or not you participate in activities or go on mission trips, and if you have the title of Group Leader, Deacon(ess), or Elder.
It can filter other matters that may be important to a Mormon senior, like drinking and smoking habits. Also, it can filter matters that may be important to anyone, like height, personality type, and type of relationship sought. These filters make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
Pros
- Low starting price
- 10-day free trial
- Sort by faith, church involvement, etc.
- Christian members
Cons
- No free version after the first 10 days
- No Mormon or LDS denomination option
3. Christian Mingle - Highest Percentage of Christians
What We Like Most:
- Large Christian user base
- Christian-specific matching features
- In-person meetups
- Free version with unblurred photos, search, and likes
Overview
Christian Mingle is one of the best Christian dating sites for seniors based on numbers alone. It has the highest percentage of Christian members of any dating site around the world. Plus, it lets us filter for religion, church attendance, and smoking/drinking habits. But like Christian Cafe and SilverSingles, Christian Mingle does not include LDS on its list of Christian religions.
Still, having such a high percentage of Christians means you are more likely to find a fellow Mormon than on SilverSingles, which isn’t Christian-focused — or websites like eHarmony, which aren’t specific to seniors or Christians. Christian Mingle claims that it has almost 60,000 new sign-ups per month. While that’s a fraction of the 381,000 people that sign up for SilverSingles each month, it’s a more targeted pool of Christians only. If religion is important to you, you’ll have better luck finding a Christian on Christian Mingle than anywhere else.
Now, it’s important to note that Spark Networks, which owns both Christian Mingle and SilverSingles, actually does have a website just for LDS called LDSsingles. However, while a site like Christian Mingle gets over 334,000 visitors each month and SilverSingles gets over 100,000, LDSsingles only gets about 16,000. So, it’s a much smaller pool to work with. We recommend starting in a larger pond and trying to find an LDS member there.
Pros
- Meant for Christians
- Free version includes unblurred photos, likes, and search
- Monthly membership available
- Captcha keeps out bots
Cons
- No discovery preference option for Mormon or LDS (only “other religion”)
- Low customer ratings on Consumer Affairs and Trustpilot
Which Dating Sites to Avoid
One of the tenets of LDS is that sex should not occur outside of a heterosexual marriage, meaning that dating should not include any sexual behavior. If you’re not looking to have sex with someone until they are your spouse, you’ll want to avoid casual dating apps like Tinder.
Aside from sites that might conflict with your religious beliefs and/or sexuality, you’ll also want to avoid those seedy, scammy senior dating websites like SeniorFriendsDate, for example; it’s a website that offers entirely free dating for people ages 50 and older. Getting a date isn’t worth losing your identity or infecting your computer, which is why we recommend popular sites for seniors like Match.com and eHarmony, even on a free level. These sites allow people to verify their identities using SMS — i.e., texts — and they have teams of people remove bad actors and block fraudulent accounts. If you’re unsure, look up the website on the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Affairs to read reviews from real customers.
Bottom Line
For the 4-in-10 Mormon seniors who are not married, you’ll want to find someone who shares your values. By using websites that cater to seniors or Christians, you can find another Mormon in your area. From senior-specific websites like SilverSingles to Christian-specific websites like Christian Cafe and Christian Mingle, you’re sure to find your match on any of the sites.
